Library
The library of Sevastopol State University is one of the largest university libraries in Crimea and Sevastopol. At present, the library’s collection totals more than 1 million 500 thousand copies of educational, scientific and fiction literature in different languages - books, periodicals, normative and technical documentation, books on CD, as well as dissertations, abstracts of dissertations and reports on research work.
As a part of the fund there are unique editions of the ХIX – early XX centuries:
“The Great Encyclopedia. Dictionary of publicly available information on all branches of knowledge “in 22 volumes (edited by SN Yuzhakov, Professor PN Mimokov), St. Petersburg, 1904.
“The universe and chelovechestvo, the history of the exploration of nature, under the general. Ed. Hans Kramer, St. Petersburg, 1894
“Guide for lovers of sailing sport”, compiler and publisher GV Esh, St. Petersburg, 1895, etc.
Readers of the library can use subscriptions and specialized reading rooms, including using the Internet through Wi-Fi technology. At present, readers are given the opportunity to work with Electronic Library Systems of leading Russian publishing houses – EBS “Znanium.com”, EBS “Lan”, EBS “Yurayt”
On the library’s website there is an electronic catalog with more than 400 thousand records, a virtual reference service is available, constantly updated virtual exhibitions are presented.
In the library, 11 thousand readers, over 40 thousand remote users annually use library resources through the Internet. Book production is 800 thousand documents per year.
Much attention is paid to cultural and educational work. The yearly it is regularly updated thematic exhibitions to help the university’s educational and scientific processes, to anniversary and significant dates, library excursions, bibliographic reviews, mass events – meetings with interesting people, musical and literary evenings, photo exhibitions, presentations, Days of Chairs, Days graduate students, specialists’ days, etc.
The goal of the library today is to become a center for attracting the interests of teachers, students, applicants, graduates, stimulating the progress of the university community to implement the adopted development strategy of Sevastopol State University.
